SYMPTOM There is a vibration at idle or harsh engagement when shifting the transmission between between Park, Drive, and Reverse. PROBABLE CAUSE The front hydraulic engine mount may have deteriorated and torn. PARTS INFORMATION Front Engine Mount Assembly: 1998-02 Accord V6 – P/N 50810-S87-A82, H/C 7981657 1999-04 Odyssey – P/N 50800-S0X-A04, H/C 7978927 2003-05 Pilot – P/N 50800-S3V-A82, H/C 7984560 WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION In warranty: The normal warranty applies. Failed Part: P/N 50810-S87-A81 H/C 5438593 Defect Code: 01102 Symptom Code: 04501 Skill Level: Repair Technician Out of warranty: Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work. DIAGNOSIS 1. Bring the engine up to operating temperature, and fully apply the parking brake. 2. Have an assistant view the top of the front engine mount while standing to the side of the vehicle. Shift the transmission to Drive. With your foot firmly on the brake pedal, quickly depress the accelerator pedal and release it. Your assistant should look for contact between the top of the engine mount and the bottom of the front engine mount bracket, and listen for noise from that area. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Drive the vehicle onto a lift, but do not raise it. 2. Odyssey – Remove the intake manifold cover and the front ignition coil cover: •See page 9-4 of the 1999-04 Odyssey Service Manual. •Online, enter keyword INTAKE , and select Intake Manifold Removal and Installation from the list. 3. Odyssey – Remove the radiator cover: •See page 10-16 of the 1999-04 Odyssey Service Manual. •Online, enter keyword RADIATOR , and select Radiator and Fan Replacement from the list

SERVICE PROCEDURE You will be performing the following, as required: • Determine the DTC Stored in ECM from the CONSULT-II Self-diagnosis results. • ECM Part Number Check to determine if this bulletin applies. • ECM Reprogramming (required if the ECM P/N in the vehicle matches one of those listed under “Current ECM P/N” in Chart A -page 2). • Replacing the Rear Oxygen Sensor (required if ECM Reprogramming is needed). Determine the DTC Stored in ECM: 1. Determine which DTC code is stored in the vehicle’s ECM by performing CONSULT-II Self-Diagnosis. 2. Print out the Self-Diagnosis results for use in ECM Part Number Check , below. See Figure 1 for an example of the CONSULT-II Self-Diagnosis printout. REPAIR PROCEDURE: 2002-04 MODELS 1. Replace the rear differential fluid: •Refer to page 15-13 of the 2002-04 CR-V Service Manual , or •Online, enter keywords REAR DIFF, and select Rear Differential Fluid Inspection and Replacement (4WD) from the list. 2. Raise the vehicle on a lift until all four wheels are completely off the ground and can rotate freely. 3. Start the engine, and let it idle until the radiator fan cycles on and off twice. 4. Burnish the rear differential clutches: Automatic transmission models – •Set the parking brake, and shift the transmission to D. Let the engine idle for 5 minutes. •With the shift lever in D, release the parking brake, keep the wheel speed at 10 mph, and let all four wheels rotate freely for 5 minutes. •Apply the brakes to stop the wheels, repeat the bulleted steps one more time, then go to step 5. Manual transmission models – •With the engine idling and the parking brake released, shift the transmission into 1st, release the clutch, and let the wheels rotate for 5 minutes. •Disengage the clutch, and apply the brakes to stop the wheels. Shift the transmission into reverse, release the clutch, and let the wheels rotate for 5 minutes. •Shift the transmission into neutral, then apply the brakes to stop the wheels. •Repeat the bulleted steps one more time, then go to step 5. 5. Shift the transmission to P (A/T) or neutral (M/T), and turn off the engine. 6. Let the rear differential cool for 10 minutes

Tie bonnet back in upright position. 3. Disconnect battery earth lead. 4. Remove engine acoustic cover. 5. Release HO2S multiplug from support bracket on LH camshaft cover, disconnect multiplug. 6. Remove bolt securing front pipe to bracket and remove front pipe. Discard gasket. 13. Remove 3 screws securing LH splash shield and remove shield 14. Release HO2S lead from clip on cylinder block. Remove 4 nuts securing exhaust manifold to cylinder head, remove manifold and discard gasket. 15. Drain fluid from IRD. 16. Drain gearbox fluid. 17. FitLRT-54-026 to the RH drive shaft inboard joint. 18. Using a suitable lever, release drive shaft from IRD. 19. With assistance, pull hub outwards and release drive shaft from IRD. CAUTION: Care must be taken not to damage oil seal when removing drive shaft from IRD. CAUTION: To avoid damage to gaiter or joint, do not allow shaft to hang on joint. 20. Remove LRT-54-026 from RH drive shaft inboard joint.
